Build your leadership skills and strengthen your voice!

During this six-day/five-night program, Indigenous youth develop the skills, knowledge, and confidence to become engaged citizens within their Tribal Nations and communities. As they explore Washington, D.C., students examine the long history of Indigenous action in the nation’s capital and build skills to advocate for the rights and futures of Native peoples.

With Close Up, students will:

  • Participate in workshops with peers from diverse Tribal communities to discuss shared assets and challenges;
  • Explore the diplomatic relationship between Tribal Nations and the federal government;
  • Investigate current policy issues impacting Indian Country; and
  • Create and present legislative proposals to Tribal Leaders, policy experts, and decision-makers on Capitol Hill.

Participation in a Close Up program requires parent or guardian approval for any participant under 18 years of age. Learn how we keep all students safe, secure, and supervised on every program.
